MLA says Kejriwal is unwell but Jail officials deny these allegations
In Tihar jail, the jailed Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is reported to be unwell and has lost 4.5 kg in weight over a period of 12 days, as revealed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi. The disclosure was made on X. Emphasis was placed on Kejriwal’s status as a severe diabetic and his relentless dedication to serving the country, despite facing health challenges. Concern over his declining health since his arrest was expressed by Atishi, attributing it to the stress imposed by the actions of the BJP. The potential consequences of any harm befalling Kejriwal were highlighted, with the statement suggesting that even God wouldn’t forgive such an outcome.
Contrary to these claims, allegations of Kejriwal’s deteriorating health have been refuted by officials from Tihar jail, who assert that he is in good condition according to jail doctors. Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case related to the now-defunct Liquor policy has led to his detention in Tihar jail until April 15.
Currently housed in jail number 2 of Tihar, Kejriwal occupies a cell measuring 14X8 feet. Fluctuations in his sugar levels have been indicated by medical reports, with readings dropping below 50 at times. Medicines and a sugar sensor monitor have been provided by the jail authorities to monitor his condition.
Previously, a petition to the court for permission to have home-cooked meals and access to various books while in jail was made by Kejriwal’s legal team. Additionally, communication with his wife, Sunita, via video conference, and in-person meetings with his lawyer have reportedly occurred.
