IMD Issues Heatwave and Extreme Weather Alert Across India

Today, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a serious warning about the weather. They’re really concerned because they’re predicting a heatwave in several states that’s going to last until April 5th. This means it’s going to be extremely hot in some places. They’ve identified specific areas like Rayalaseema, Gangetic West Bengal, and East Madhya Pradesh, where temperatures will be especially high from April 3rd to 5th. Also, places like Jharkhand and Vidarbha will experience intense heat on April 4th and 5th. They’ve even pinpointed smaller areas within states, like parts of North Interior Karnataka and Telangana, where it’ll be scorching from April 1st to 5th. It’s not just the daytime that will be uncomfortable; nights will also be warmer than usual in places like Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Odisha. In some other areas like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Odisha, it won’t just be hot; it’ll be hot and humid from April 1st to 5th.

Before this warning, the IMD had already alerted people that the next few months are going to be hotter than normal in many parts of India. They’re expecting more hot days than usual, especially in central India and some northern and southern areas.

Apart from the heat, there’s also concern about heavy rain and snow in some places. For example, Arunachal Pradesh might experience heavy rain and snow from April 1st to 5th. In Assam and Meghalaya, heavy rain is expected on April 1st-2nd and 4th. And in parts of West Bengal and Sikkim, there might even be hailstorms on April 1st. So, it’s not just the heat people need to be careful about; there are other weather issues too that could cause problems.
