Supreme Court Warns Patanjali Ayurved Over Misleading Advertisements

On February 27, the Supreme Court scolded Patanjali Ayurved for ads that weren’t truthful and stopped them from saying their products could treat diseases. The Court sent notices to Patanjali Ayurved and its managing director, Acharya Balkrishna, asking why they didn’t follow court orders and warned them about possible punishment for disrespecting the court.

Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah told Patanjali Ayurved and its leaders not to criticize any kind of medicine in the media, whether in newspapers, TV, or online. They reminded them about a promise they made on November 21 last year.

The bench said that the country was tricked. They asked the government about what it did when Patanjali Ayurved said its medicines could cure different illnesses in ads, but they might not be true.
