ED has recently conducted searches in multiple locations in Bhopal, Kolkata, Mumbai and have found that Saurabh Chandreker and Ravi Uppal have created an empire in UAE. And, Saurabh Chandreker got married in February and around 200 Cr was spent in cash.
What ED has discovered ?
The family members were ferried from Nagpur to UAE by private jets and celebrities, wedding planners, dancers, decorators, etc. were hired from Mumbai. Hawala channels were used for making payments in cash.
An event management firm of Yogesh Popat received Rs. 112cr through hawala. Hotel bookings of Rs 42 cr were done in cash in AEDs. Above mentioned celebrities were endorsing betting entities and performing in the function after taking heavy fees. Ms Rapid travels of Dheeraj Ahuja and Vishal Ahuja of Bhopal was scanned by ED. As they were handling ticketing ops of Mahadev App promoters, family, associates, and even celebrities endorsing apps like fairplay.com, Reddy Anna app.
Hawala related ops for Mahadev Book app
Kolkata based Vikas Chhaparia was handling all the Hawala related ops for Mahadev app. Vikas Chhaparia along with his associate Govind Kedia was investing heavily in stock market through FPI route.
ED has frozen Rs. 236 cr in cash and other security holdings. Further assets of Rs. 160 cr in DEMAT holdings of Govind Kedia have been frozen. Also, after conducting search in Govind Kedia premises, ED seized Rs. 18 lakh cash and Rs 13 cr of jewellery.
What now ?
ED has taken probe abroad. Special court in Raipur has issued NBWs against the absconding suspects.
